Prior to establishing Madsen O'Dea, Richard was the managing partner of a large corporate and commercial law firm. He was admitted to practice in 1997 and since then has practiced in the areas of commercial litigation, wills and estates litigation, real property disputes, debt recovery and insolvency law. His experience includes independent corporate investigations and risk minimisation and governance advice. He is regularly referred work from other firms and from barristers.

Richard advises liquidators and insolvency practitioners, directors of companies, creditors and debtors in relation to insolvency issues. His general litigation practice includes resolving matters for landlords, tenants, beneficiaries of deceased estates, and all forms of commercial dispute resolution for individuals and SMEs.
