Prior to his involvement with Madsen O'Dea Agnew, Jack was a partner of a national law firm. He was admitted to legal practice in 1989 and has practiced since then in the areas of commercial law, banking and finance law, commercial litigation, debt recovery and insolvency law. His experience includes a five year period as in-house legal counsel for BankSA.

Jack's broad commercial law background enables him to provide solutions to a wide range of commercial and corporate legal problems and a significant amount of his practice involves acting for clients to resolve complex commercial and corporate disputes. A significant proportion of the work undertaken by Jack is referred to him by other law firms and barristers.

Richard O'Dea

Prior to establishing Madsen O'Dea Agnew, Richard was the managing partner of a large corporate and commercial law firm. He was admitted to practice in 1997 and since then has practiced in the areas of commercial litigation, wills and estates litigation, real property disputes, debt recovery and insolvency law. His experience includes independent corporate investigations and risk minimisation and governance advice. He is regularly referred work from other firms and from barristers.

Richard advises liquidators and insolvency practitioners, directors of companies, creditors and debtors in relation to insolvency issues. His general litigation practice includes resolving matters for landlords, tenants, beneficiaries of deceased estates, and all forms of commercial dispute resolution for individuals and SMEs.

Rohan Agnew

Rohan has a broad commercial practice and for almost 20 years has been providing commercial and taxation advice to SMEs and high net worth individuals.

Rohan commenced professional life as an insolvency accountant and still provides insolvency and commercial advice to insolvency practitioners and directors, shareholders and creditors of companies experiencing financial difficulties.

Rohan's main commercial focus is on mergers and acquisitions and the related taxation consequences. However, Rohan also has experience in franchising as well as intellectual property, including in IT and software licensing, distribution and development agreements. 

Rohan acts for a range of private businesses, farmers and property owners, as well as accounting, medical, financial planning and other professional practices.  Being from the country originally, a large part of his practice is rural based with a focus on the agricultural and wine-making sectors.

Rohan has master’s degrees in law from the University of Edinburgh and in taxation from the University of NSW. He is a fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a member of ARITA.

Brooke Willshire

Principal

Brooke was admitted to practice in 2007 and prior to joining Madsen O'Dea Agnew, she worked at a national law firm practising in insolvency and special project litigation. 

She has broad experience in commercial litigation including acting for small and large companies and individuals in complex contract and real property matters, partnership and shareholder disputes, competition and consumer law matters and debt recovery. Brooke's litigation practice also includes acting in disputes regarding deceased estates.

She acts for liquidators, directors and creditors in insolvency recoveries, restructuring and turnarounds, and all other aspects of insolvency law. She can also provide tailored advice in respect of governance issues and risks associated with corporate and trust structures.

Nick Baldock

Prior to his involvement with Madsen O'Dea Agnew, Nick was a partner of a boutique commercial law firm. He was admitted to legal practice in 1988 and has practiced since then in the areas of commercial law including a broad range of business and property transactions and providing commercial and strategic advice to SMEs both here and interstate. He also practises extensively in commercial litigation, wills and estates litigation, professional negligence, trade practices, real property, equitable trust and intellectual property disputes, debt recovery and insolvency law. He has appeared in all the jurisdictions and Courts in South Australia and has assisted clients with litigation matters in Courts in all other States and Territories of Australia.

Nick's broad commercial law background enables him to provide solutions to a wide range of commercial and corporate legal problems and a significant amount of his practice involves acting for clients to resolve complex commercial and corporate disputes before they hit the Courtroom.

In addition to his legal work, he also advises a number of Corporations in  Collaborative Research Centres and the charitable and medical start up sphere as Company Secretary drawing on his corporate experience over the last 35 years. He  has been and continues to be a director of a number of not for profit charities in the home care and cancer fields and currently also offers pro bono services to the NSW Cancer Council scheme preparing wills for terminal cancer sufferers.

Jeni Branolt

Office Manager and Conveyancer

Jeni joined Madsen O’Dea Agnew in 2023 as our office manager. Jeni has more than 35 years’ experience in the legal field since starting as a legal clerk in 1989 and is involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the firm.

 Jeni is also the firm’s conveyancer having become a Registered Conveyancer in 2003.
